Construction Update

If you’ve been to Labette Health recently, undoubtedly you have noticed the abundance of hardhats and the sound of construction.  That’s the sound of progress!

2006 marked the completion of Phase 1 of our $30 million renovation project…renovations to our power plant.  Groundbreaking for Phase 2 took place in May 2007 and includes renovations and additions in numerous areas of our facility.  Construction will be ongoing for the next 18 months to 2 years. 

We are so excited about all the ways you and your family will benefit from our expansion and renovation project.  All these improvements will help us to center around you better than ever before.  Below is the list of improvements to our facility.  Take a virtual tour.

Major Improvements

Surgery Suites

  • 2 New 600 square feet operating suites and renovation of 2 existing operating suites to all state-of-the-art suites   
  • Addition of 2 new scope rooms
  • 13 new Pre-Op / Post-Op beds
  • New recovery lounge
  • New sterile services
  • Expanded locker and lounge spaces for doctors and nursing staff
  • New Pre-surgery admissions and testing space

  Radiology

  • New Dedicated Women's Center to include Mammography, Dexa Scan and space for Patient Education
  • Private waiting and dressing areas
  • New reading rooms and radiologist offices

  Laboratory

  • Renovated lab outpatient services area designed as a one-stop-shop located immediately adjacent to the front lobby
  • New Laboratory space incorporates extensive new automated lab equipment

  Admissions / Circulation Improvements

  • Provides front door access to admissions, allows easy navigation to all outpatient departments
  • Centralized waiting in a hospitality oriented environment
  • Connected to MOB/ER/Entrance Lobby together in the new Mainstreet corridor
  • Improved way finding for patients and visitors by directing all to easily identifiable entry point

  Dietary

  • Renovated Cafeteria designed to reinforce the hospitality environment being created at the front door
  • Remodeled dining area.  This area becomes part of the front lobby area by extension and is open day and night - allows patients and visitors a variety of spaces and help reinforce the inviting atmosphere we are seeking to create

  Purchasing

  • Purchasing areas and offices located adjacent to new dock

  Maintenance

  • Updated maintenance area to allow for more efficiency in repairing and maintaining the facility

  Information Technology

  • Server Room - Provide an enlarged space with customized cooling to meet the demands of increased IT infrastructure
  • Department office space - Provide space to allow IT staff to be located in one centralized area

  Chapel

  • Chapel space located adjacent to several outpatient departments and elevator to upper floors

  Medical Office Building

  • (3) Floor Medical Office Building to house physicians

  The Core - Center of Rehabilitation Excellence

  • Building will house Outpatient Rehabilitation Services, two swimming pools (used for Aquatic Therapy and Swimming Classes), and a medically based fitness center

  Relocation of Education Space and Administration

  • (3) Classrooms / Conference Rooms with dividable partitions to be relocated to the existing physical therapy area in the existing MOB
  • Board Room
  • CEO / COO offices
  • Remodel of existing Cardiac Rehab space

  Chiller Plant

  • Phrase 1 project consolidated and centralized several aspects of the facility central plant to optimize operating cost and maintenance

  Future Space

  • Expansion space for Surgery
  • Expansion space for Radiology
  • Expansion space for Medical Records
