What to bring to the hospital

Since the length of stay has decreased over the last few years, it is important to come prepared to stay and take active part in your recovery phase.  To help you with your plans, we have put together a list of items you may find helpful to commemorate and capture this special time.

Items needed for labor and birth:

  • Camera and film
  • List of who you will call
  • Camcorder, tape and batteries (filming can not occur during the actual delivery process)
  • Labor support aids; for example: lotion, focal points
  • Insurance cards/driver's license
  • Copies of Advance Directive (if you have one)
  • Contact lens case, if needed

Following birth:

  • A robe, a nightgown, causal wear, if desire, slippers
  • A comfortable sports or support bra, if breastfeeding, a nursing bra and pads
  • Toothbrush, toothpaste, make-up, hair care products
  • Infant clothing to wear home and a receiving blanket
  • Carseat (may be installed according to regulations by the health department located directly behind the hospital)
  • Babybook (optional)
