Emily's story

EMILY ALLINDER
GRADUATE STUDENT INTERN

Somewhat of a risk taker and always up for a spin of adventure, Emilly Allinder, Columbus, Ohio, jumped at the chance to study Hospital Administration at Labette Health. And she found out in this friendly environment just what a wonderful world of ahhs one small Kansas community hospital has to offer!

"I am always up for new challenges. I came to Labette Health to learn what it was like working in a rural community hospital. I'd done research and learned about all the new exciting programs and projects Labette Health was working on, but I also came because of the people. Labette Health employees made me feel very welcome from the beginning."

During her internship, Emily worked with staff in Operations & Finance, Nursing, Materials Management, Facilities Management, Physician Practice Management, Controller, Coding, the Business Office, Physician Clinics, and Information Technology. After graduating from Ohio State University next year, she plans to pursue an administrative fellowship at a large, nonprofit healthcare organization. Eventually, Emily would like to become the Chief Operating Officer of a medium size, nonprofit community hospital.

"Labette Health is an organization that is dedicated to improving the health status of its patients and the well-being of the overall community. Employees are dedicated to service and take a great deal of pride in their work and the mission of the organization. Labette Health fulfills a great need by providing Labette County and several additional outlying areas with high quality healthcare services. The staff of professionals at Labette Health not only met my expectations, but exceeded them. It is truly an organization that is living its mission through service and a strong commitment to continuous improvement."
