Getting to help people in their time of need was the magnet that drew Rick Teel to his profession as a paramedic. This interest stems from his childhood days in Oklahoma where he became attached to the good feeling that came from helping others as a fire department volunteer. He decided that the emergency medical profession would give him the opportunity to do much more and he'll tell you that this professional choice has been the best move he ever made in his career.

"It's hard to tell someone else the satisfaction that a person gets by going into a home or to an accident scene where all the people there are looking for someone to fix the problem. With your training and professionalism, the family and patient start to relax and feel better. That's what we in EMS get to experience almost every day when we come to work."

It's not hard for Rick to tell people what he likes about working at Labette Health. "Labette Health is a friendly community based hospital that is always striving to improve patient care and comfort. There is always a friendly hand and smile from a fellow employee when walking down the halls at Labette Heatlh. Labette Health has a doctor base of specialists and ER staff that I would put up against hospitals much larger. That makes me proud to say I am an employee of Labette Health."
