LEEANN
PEDIATRIC REHABILITATION PATIENT

Talk about lighting up a room. All LeeAnn has to do is walk in and everything seems to glow from the radiant warmth of her loving smile. Though young, LeeAnn is a model of poise, extremely outgoing and she loves everything and everybody. LeeAnn never meets a stranger.

But without the targeted speech therapy she has received at Labette Health for most of her life, LeeAnn's world could have been much different. Largely, the confidence LeeAnn displays stems from consistency in the treatment for her special need, and the loving care provided by her Labette Health therapist. LeeAnn was born with a cleft palate. At just one year old, she underwent her first surgery. Doctors advised the family to seek professional help for their daughter's speech development and the Labette Health program came highly recommended. LeeAnn began therapy when she was only three, and has been with the same therapist for four years. She looks forward to each Labette Health session.

"I like learning how to pronounce words correctly and playing games with Audrey. Everyone at Labette Health is nice to me."

In the beginning, LeeAnn met with her therapist three times weekly, but now she has progressed to only needing to attend one time. And it's a good thing, because LeeAnn doesn't have as much spare time as she used to. A vibrant second grader, LeeAnn keeps very busy attending school, where her main interests are math and computers, and also enjoying a very full life. She loves to shop – collects Barbie's and Bratz Dolls, and loves sports. In the summer she plays ball, swims, and rides her bike, then when school starts she plays soccer and bowls on a winter league. She also loves playing with other kids, listening to music and dancing. Her parents love the quality treatment that LeeAnn receives from Labette Health.

"Audrey is a very good therapist and is very good with LeeAnn. We have always been teated very nice at Labette Health and everyone there is very caring."
