COOK Continuing career opportunities abound at Labette Health and Cathy Cook feels lucky to have experienced many of them. "I retired from one career and was encouraged by a friend to pursue nursing as a new career. As I love people and helping, this turned out to be perfect. The daily challenges of nursing and the people – both patients and coworkers – are what I enjoy most about my job." Labette Health as well as the Labette Health Foundation and Labette Health Auxiliary all contributed toward the expenses of Cathy's nursing training. Although Cathy says she originally chose Labette Health because of its convenient location, now that she's experienced working there Cathy says, "I won't leave!" And it's easy to understand why she has been so impressed by the hospital's focus on family and teamwork. "Senior staff members are very helpful to new grads. Labette Health is willing to help medical field students attending Labette Community College, and they go right on to employ the graduates."
