BRENDEN
PEDIATRIC ORTHOPEDIC PATIENT

There’s no place like home for Kansans. However, when an accident requiring hospitalization happens, there’s no place like Labette Health during recovery. Their highly trained professional staff members excel at alleviating patient anxiety and making each one feel safe and secure while undergoing treatment. Sometimes it’s not an easy task, like when trying to keep a four year old with a broken leg down -- yet happy – for more than two weeks! But the Labette Health staff takes these kinds of challenges to heart on a daily basis.

“I don’t think Brenden would have healed up like he did without the exceptional care he received from the nursing staff on three north. He was only four years old at the time and it was very traumatic to say the least! The nurses worked very well with him to make him feel safe -- and that everything was going to be okay,” Brenden’s mom, Margaret, recounted.

The key – dedicated, caring people. “The staff kept his spirits up for the 17 days he was there. The Food and Nutrition Department always made sure he got what he wanted for his meals. They even got him a birthday present! I don’t know of any other hospital that would do that,” she said. “I stayed with him – I was always made to feel ‘at home’. Anything I needed the staff was always more than willing to get for me. They really brightened the experience of Brenden’s unfortunate accident.”
