MACARONAS Quality time spent with his father not only left Tom Macaronas with a lifetime of special father-son memories, not too surprisingly, it also groomed him for career success in Hospital Administration. His dad was not only an excellent role model as a father, but at the same time he was an excellent mentor to a young apprentice who was taking in the entire experience. Tom felt right at home in the professional medical environment and he also felt very special to get to be a part of his father's work experience. "When I was young my dad, who was a hospital pharmacist, would take me to work with him routinely. Through that exposure I thought health care would be a good career choice for me. By nature the clinical side did not appeal to me, but working in the field did, so I opted for the business side." And when he checked out the employment opportunities at Labette Health, the homey feeling of that facility was a natural fit. "I came to work at Labette Health in 1998. The hospital has many strengths, but it is the people that stand out the most. I really enjoy the professional people I work with and the challenges that we face together daily." |
